On the outside
One of the first things you’ll want to take care of, especially if you’ve been driving in snowy areas, is to make sure you remove all that road salt buildup. Road salt can be seriously corrosive and ruin paint and other parts on the underside of your vehicle. If you’re cleaning your car yourself, make sure you use a soap that’s specifically made for washing cars. Regular dish soap just won’t cut it. Be sure to use different microfiber towels for washing and drying your vehicle. Don’t wash your car in direct sunlight either. You’ll also want to make sure you clean the spots of your vehicle that aren’t highly visible. Be sure to clean the doorjambs and area around the opening of the trunk. Those spots tend to collect a lot of dirt and grime.
On the inside
On the inside of your vehicle, there are many small crevices that can collect crumbs and dust. You can always use a container of canned air to blow out the small spaces around the air vents and gear shifter. Be sure to vacuum the seats, between the seats, the floorboard and even under the seats! A vehicle with a clean interior smells better and will offer a more enjoyable ride. As for under the hood, be sure to check and fill your fluids and get the proper maintenance.
